Step 2 Bring your hips down. For a right uppercut, shift more weight to your right foot. This way is better than what many beginners do…which is they will load only a tiny bit but then release a wide uppercut. Use your elbow to DIG under the uppercut. Step 2 Pivot the front foot to generate power for the punch.
Study up and see how you can add these three elements to your hook punch; Step 1 Keep your body straight, in your normal boxing stance. Simply relax the arm as you release the uppercut and tighten the hand on impact.

And you can do this by not letting your upper body lean away from your hips during the uppercut: Visualize yourself loading up a prepping for a big move but in reality, the uppercut is only a very tight compact punch.
By staying on the same side as the punching during the uppercut, I feel like it lets me get my hips, my back, and my punching arm under the uppercut and generates more power this way.
Step 3 Body rotation. Follow the simple steps given above to throw powerful and quick hooks and uppercuts. Many beginners like to visualize the uppercut as rotating around the front of their body. If precisely thrown, and with enough power to them, they have the potential to knock the opponent out.
The arms make a sharp compact loop. It should be parallel to the floor with the elbow bent at 45 degrees. I would say this secret is one of my best secrets for maximizing punching power. Your body moves the same way like for a cross or hook, even though your arm is coming with an upwards angle now.
You have to rotate your lower body, hips, to generate power for the punch. Visualize yourself rotating around the back of your body, instead of the front. The reason is because their uppercuts are traveling in a straight motion rather than a looping motion.
And doing that to set something else up. This is far more powerful and devastating. This will give you more power and leverage. Some will even drop their hand as low as their waist. This will not only give you more power and a more compact uppercut but also helps to keep your hand from flying into the sky when you miss.
